Welcome to the Centre for Cultural and African Studies (CeCASt) of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CoHSS) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. As the Director, I represent the Provost of the CoHSS, and the Vice-Chancellor of the University in promoting Cultural and African Studies.

CeCASt is the oldest amongst the two research centres of the CoHSS that undertakes research, teaching, and co-curricular activities in African studies, cultural studies, and performing arts. The Centre has a long history of providing the University and surrounding communities with performing arts. Our vision is to become Africa’s premier Cultural and African Studies centre of excellence, providing high-quality teaching and research that addresses emerging challenges in the Cultural and African Studies space.

CeCASt is strategically located geographically and has a dynamic environment that support teaching and research of Cultural and African Studies. We are proud to have a blend of young and experienced faculty, with varied teaching and research background in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
